Welhausen Park covers one square block just west of downtown Shiner on Hwy 90-A. It has a historic bandstand, a children's playground and monuments telling Shiner's history, and is a quiet spot for strolls and picnics.
The park hosts community events throughout the year, including the annual 'Christmas in the Park' on the first Thursday of December. Local school bands perform Christmas music and Santa arrives on a Shiner fire truck. A holiday lighting display glows in the park from December 1 onward.
