The Louis Ehlers Shiner Cigar Factory dates to 1895. It made three brands of cigars, 'Good Company,' 'Katy Lee' and 'Becky Brown,' and employed five labor union men, each paid one cent per cigar.
Next door, the rustic Green Cabin was built in 1853 by pioneer parents. William Green Jr., one of the foremost businessmen in Shiner, was born there. It first housed a post office and general store.
Both buildings share the site with the Shiner Chamber of Commerce offices, which face the old City Hall from across the street.
