Shiner Catholic Church, Sts. Cyril and Methodius, became a parish in 1912. To hold the growing congregation, the current church was built in 1920-1921 from a design by F. Wahrenburger, with volunteer laborers doing the work under Rev. F.X. Wolf.
The Romanesque revival building has an arcaded front portico, cut stone accents, stained glass windows from Munich, Germany, and a square tower topped by an octagonal spire. Inside is a breathtaking painted interior. Since 1983, the church has been on the National Register of Historic Places.
